Theresa Erickson, a 2010 columnist for San Diego LGBT Weekly on gay parenting, was sentenced Feb. 24 to five months in federal prison and seven months home confinement in an adoption scheme that the U.S. attorney described as a “baby selling ring.”
Erickson, 44, of Ramona, an expert on reproductive law, resigned her state bar membership after she pleaded guilty to the conspiracy charge last August and was allowed to remain free on a $10,000 bond until she surrenders April 23.
Erickson’s attorney, Ezekiel Cortez, maintained she only made $70,000 over a 7-year period in the arrangement.
