Update: ‘Sissy’ calendar pulled by Amazon, Barnes & Noble

San Diego lgbt weekly | GAY NEWSNEWSCartoonist Joe King released a calendar Wednesday which depicts gay people as ‘sissies’ and ‘sexually confused,’ sparking an outrage amongst LGBT circles.

King defends the calendar, noting that the release comes in wake of already distributed material including “reprints of nationally distributed work several years old,” he said. King added via his Facebook page that, “All the hysteria is coming from those nice folks who haven’t bothered to actually purchase and read my collection.”

LGBT groups are calling upon Barnes & Noble and Amazon to remove the calendars due to the offensive images and connotations.

On his Facebook page, King added, “The ‘truth’ is that AIDS is an ‘elective’ disease. It STOPS the day guys quit sticking it to each other. And for the tragedy of women and children infected… THAT stops the day their gay husbands and fathers stop cheating on them. Anyone need MORE education, science or funding to understand THAT?”

    1. GregYeah, definitely! Straight-acting is by far the most inlusting thing someone can say in an ad on a gay web-site looking for Mr. Right now! If you are acting, you are nor really being you. We all have our moments when we might prefer a feather boa to a wool scarf, or another when we get really turned on by an aromatic underarm instead of perfume. And that’s all in the same person, eh? People are complex beings who defy labels. I know I’m gay because I love c**k (uncut, of course). Whether I wear construction boots or ballet slippers, makes no difference to that fundamental reality.Be well, (please say Hi to Alex)
