The Laugh Out Proud Comedy Show, San Diego’s only comedy show geared toward the LGBT community returns Dec. 8 and features four LGBT comedians, including headliner Shann Carr.
With 20 years of gay stand up experience under her belt, lesbian comedian Shann Carr’s storytelling style has always had her audiences rolling in the aisles.
Shann, who is based in Palm Springs, has been the sole lesbian entertainer on more than 20 Atlantis cruises. When asked about the cruises she told Outmedia, “My girlfriend was worried sending me out to sea. She consoled herself by guessing that if there were problems, women and children would get off first. I laughed and told her ‘On this trip I think Twinkies and queens are first. Heck, they’re expecting the dyke to fix the ship before it goes down!’ ”
Carr was recently voted among Curve Magazine’s top-10 funniest comedians. She currently stars in a Palm Springs talk show called Does Your Momma Know, and has written for a handful of popular gay magazines and published her own book titled You’re Going To Be Gay.
The Dec. 8 show also features allied comedian Chris Fleming of Los Angeles, local LGBT comedians Sarah Burford and Sean Wherley and gay Los Angeles comic Scott Backman.
The Laugh Out Proud Comedy Show begins at 8 p.m. and is held at Martinis Above Fourth, 3940 Fourth Ave., Suite 200, in San Diego.
The show is free, and is for ages 21 and up. Guests are welcome to come early for the full dinner menu in the lounge setting of Martinis Above Fourth. Reservations are required for dinner and may be made by calling 619-400-4500 or visiting martinisabovefourth.com. All other seating is first come, first served.
The Laugh Out Proud Comedy Show is produced by San Diego comedians Sean Wherley and Sarah Burford, and is designed to showcase the region’s top LGBT and allied comedians in a safe environment for the LGBT community.
