Lady Gaga honored with Trevor Project’s Hero award

Gay San Diego | LGBT WEEKLY | LADY GAGALADY Lady Gaga will be presented with this year’s Trevor Hero Award at the annual Trevor Live event on Dec. 4, reports MTV News. The gala is hosted and sponsored by the Trevor Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to suicide prevention for LGBT youth.

The Trevor Project will also recognize Google Inc. with the Trevor 2020 Award.

“Our young people are at the center of a health crisis, and vocal leaders like Lady Gaga and technology leaders like Google Inc. have stepped up to help change our culture,” said David McFarland, interim executive director and CEO of the Trevor Project.

“Our honorees are working with the Trevor Project to make a better today and a brighter tomorrow for youth. We are proud to honor Lady Gaga with the Trevor Hero Award and Google Inc. with the Trevor 2020 award for their work to help young people express their true selves with pride.”

Earlier this month, Lady Gaga announced the launch of the Born This Way Foundation which will aim to focus on “youth empowerment and equality by addressing issues like self-confidence, well-being, anti-bullying, mentoring and career development and will utilize digital mobilization as one of the means to create positive change.”
