ACCRA, Ghana – Ghanaian president, John Atta Mills has reacted angrily to the U.K.’s threat to cut aid if the country refuses to legalize homosexuality.
According to the Ghana News Agency President Mills stated categorically that he as the head of state will not support any attempt to encourage homosexuality in Ghana.
“I as president of this nation will never initiate or support any attempt to legalize homosexuality in Ghana. As a government we will abide by the principles as contained in our constitution, which is supreme,” said Mills at a press conference.
Following the Commonwealth heads of state meeting in Perth, Australia, British prime minister, David Cameron had threatened a cut in the flow of development assistance if African countries did not relax or reform their laws to favor homosexuality.
He was said to have singled out Ghana and Uganda for maintaining strict laws against homosexuality.
Cameron told the BBC, “Britain is now one of the premier aid givers in the world –actually we want to see countries that receive our aid adhering to proper human rights, and that includes how people treat gay and lesbian people.”
When asked whether African countries would have their aid reduced if they did not reverse anti-gay legislation, he replied, “We are saying it is one of the things that will determine our aid policy.”
A Ugandan presidential official, John Nagenda, said his country was “tired of these lectures” and that the Commonwealth nations should not be treated like “children”. The Ghanaian president, Atta Mills’ Communications Chief Koku Anyidoho told the BBC, “If that aid is going to be tied to things that will destroy the moral fiber of society, do you really want that?”
feck these african bastards! don’t treat them like children? how about quit acting like children! children are not educated and intelligent enough to care for themselves and OBVIOUSLY most of africa is in the same boat. i say, cut ALL monies from them and let their god take care of them as he did in the past… pestilence, disease, famine, war, etc.
It’s easily said than done. Mills finds it easy to react on matters like this.
I as a strong believer in JEHOVAH the ALMIGHTY GOD, the beginning and the end, the One to whom all powers belong to, the CREATOR OF HEAVEN and earth, man and animals, and all creatures both on land, water and in the air, kick against gay or lesbianism. It’s a shameful and condemnable act, which our creator and source of all things detest vehemently. As per supply, don’t try the awesome power of GOD. He makes great things out of nothing, HE crushes the proud and mighty and exalts the humble. He did it then, and HE will do it again! You can’t battle with the LORD, be warned! He has the final say!!!
May Allahu bless you my President, we are behind you with prayers. keep it up. even if it will happen not here in Ghana.
