2011 Metro Movers announced

Robert Gleason

San Diego Metro-politan Magazine announced its 2011 Metro Movers. The annual list features people that are predicted to make a significant impact on the San Diego business com-munity, as well as the community at large. The list includes twenty eight people who are civic, political and business leaders in San Diego.

The 2011 list includes Robert Gleason, an LGBT community activist and icon, as well as community ally Laurie Black. Gleason is the board chair of the San Diego Regional Airport Auth-or-ity which is managing the $1 billion terminal expansion at Lindbergh Field. He also chairs the San Diego LGBT Community Leadership Council which is comprised of over 40 organizations and is focused upon the advancement of LGBT equality. Gleason is also the vice chair of the Board of Directors of the Victory Fund, a national organization focused upon electing openly LGBT politicians and securing presidential ap-point-ments for members of the community. When not serving our community, Bob works as the Chief Financial Officer and general counsel of Evans Hotels.

Laurie Black, a straight ally and active member of the San Diego Democratic Club, is a newly appointed member of the Center City Development Cor-poration. A fixture on the San Diego political and civic scene for over twenty years, Laurie is also a former board member of the Port Authority. She is also known for her ad-vocacy on mental illness and for the homeless.

San Diego LGBT Weekly offers its congratulations to Bob and Laurie. The honor is well deserved.
