A Scottish barman was killed this weekend after what authorities believe may be a homophobic attack. Stuart Walker, 28, was beaten and burned alive as he was tied to a lamppost early Saturday morning in Ayrshire, Scotland.
Authorities immediately launched a murder investigation Sunday. Strathclyde Police confirmed the victim sustained horrific injuries including scorching and other beatings to the body. Authorities have not ruled out the murder as a homophobic attack, and is still investigating evidence left behind at the scene.
”Stuart had been out with friends in the Cumnock area earlier during the night and was last seen alive by a family friend near to the fire station in Glaisnock Street around 2.30am hours on Saturday morning – nearly two and a half hours before he was found. It is imperative that we find out where he was between 2.30am and 4.50am hours, who he was with and why this happened to him,” said Detective Inspector John Hogg, Ayr CID.
Colleague Kazza Sutherland, a coworker of Walker’s at the Royal Hotel, said, “Can’t believe this is happened to such a great guy. I hope they catch those who did this to him. Hopefully justice will be served and I hope those who did this go to hell.”
Friends and family have taken to Walter’s Facebook page to commemorate their beloved friend.
