The wildly popular comic actress Jane Lynch of Fox TV’s Glee show is appearing Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. at 2910 La Jolla Village Drive for a book signing and discussion. This is sponsored by Warwick’s Books and the La Jolla Playhouse as a ticketed event.
For a fee of $30, attendees will receive admission to the discussion and Ms. Lynch’s new book, Happy Accidents.
Jane Lynch is, of course, well-known for her role as Sue Sylvester, the mean lesbian character on the hit TV show Glee for the past two seasons. Her role is over-the-top, and she relishes every minute of her quest to abolish the school glee club. For her own glee at destroying the club, she has won an Emmy, a Golden Globe and a People’s Choice Award. She is finally being recognized for her expert comic timing that comedy fans have been enjoying for years.
Lynch paid her dues in comedy dives around the country, as well as in small film parts and by playing television roles. Glee is her biggest break so far, but she did make a huge impression in the Christopher Guest film Best in Show as a lesbian dog trainer. She often credits him for kick-starting her career. Also, she recently hosted the Emmy Awards Show, being only the third woman in the history of the Emmy show to do so.
Lynch’s new book Happy Accidents is a comic look at behind-the-scenes Hollywood and part memoir. She emphasizes self-acceptance and is brutally honest about her own alcoholism as a youth. Her struggles in show business are sometimes funny and often poignant.
This is a ticketed event that requires the purchase of tickets at Warwick’s Book Store in La Jolla, 7812 Girard Ave. No tickets will be sold at the La Jolla Playhouse. Call Warwick’s at 858-454-0347 or go on warwicks.com.
