The Foo Fighters have become the latest target for members in the Westboro Baptist Church amidst the popular rock band’s Hot Buns video.
The ‘church’ had posted shop at the Foo Fighters concert this weekend, and the rock gurus did not fail to disappoint fans after they played a special version of the song for the Westboro group just outside the venue, TNT Magazine reports.
“I don’t care if you’re black or white or purple or green, whether you’re Pennsylvanian or Transylvanian, Lady Gaga or Lady Antebellum, it takes all kinds! Men loving women, and women loving men, and men loving men, and women loving women. God bless America!” said Grohl on stage.
As a part of the ‘festivities,’ the Foo Fighters adorned their stage with the American flag and bales of hay in spirit of the cheeky song.
Needless to say, members of the Westboro Church were not pleased. “The entertainment industry is a microcosm of the people in this doomed nation: hard-hearted, hell-bound, and hedonistic,” leader Fred Phelps wrote on the church’s website. “[The Foo Fighters] have a platform and should be using it to encourage obedience to God; instead they teach every person who will listen all things contrary to him: fornication, adultery, idolatry, f–s.”
Lyrics to the song include “Driving all night, got a hankering for something. Think I’m in the mood for some hot man muffins/ Mmmm, sounds so fine, yes indeed.”
