Lady Gaga kisses Marge in upcoming ‘Simpsons’ episode

Lady Gaga has been on The Simpsons before, as Elton John’s Golden Globes date.

Singer and gay-rights campaigner Lady Gaga is coming to Springfield for a guest appearance on TV’s The Simpsons. Recorded earlier this month Gaga plays herself in a role where she tries to cheer Lisa up and ends up kissing Marge.

Yeardley Smith, who voices Lisa Simpson and currently appears in off-Broadway’s Love, Loss and What I Wore told Broadway.com before the recording, “This is extraordinary! I’m stunned that she has time in her schedule that she’s coming to our studio to record. She’s playing herself, and [The Simpsons writers] describe her as the happiest, most optimistic person in the world. She comes to Springfield to try to cheer up Lisa, but she can’t.”

Gaga, told Entertainment Weekly: “I make music, but I don’t do voice-overs every day of the week and their characters are so awesomely convincing and sincere and wild and funny, I had to remind myself constantly of the sincerity of the humor. That’s what I was trying to focus on, not putting on a character too much and really being as sincere as I could with the lines.”

Matt Groening The Simpsons creator said that everyone was impressed with her efforts, adding, “Since the very beginning, I’ve always wanted to have on the most iconic personalities of our time, and she’s it.”

Lady Gaga’s appearance will air during the animated hit’s upcoming 23rd season.
