Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman, real-life husband and wife and occasional costars on NBC’s “Parks and Recreation,” have signed on to join Gary Cole, Brian Geraghty, Nicholas Braun and Hunter Cope in director Chris Nelson’s low-budget coming-of-age comedy “Gay Dude.”
According to Variety magazine, Braun and Cope will star in the Lionsgate production as Michael and Matty, teenage best friends who, in keeping with the familiar teen comedy formula, make a pact to lose their virginity before the eve of their senior prom – and find their plans unexpectedly altered when Matty tells Michael that he’s gay.
Offerman, who plays Ron Swanson on “Parks and Recreation,” will play Braun’s father in the upcoming film, while Mullally will play Cope’s mother. Fellow costars include Dakota Johnson, Dreama Walker and Sarah Hyland of “Modern Family.”
“Gay Dude” is based on a script by “Parks and Recreation” writer Alan Yang.
