In the wake of countless TV and movie plotlines pitting heterosexual couples against themselves for the sake of laugh, “Husbands” stands to bring a much-needed breath of fresh air to the increasingly cliché “rom-com” genre.
Produced by “Battlestar Galactica,” “Torchwood” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” executive producer Jane Espenson and directed by award-winning “Friends,” “Desperate Housewives” and “Will & Grace” veteran Jeff Greenstein, “Husbands” is an online sitcom set to premier in September that follows the domestic adventures of a gay couple that marries on a whim — and subsequently encounters all manner of “sitcom newlywed wackiness.”
Starring actors Sean Hemeon (“True Blood”) and Cheeks (“Torchwood: Miracle Day”) as the titular husbands and “Caprica” star Alessandra Torresani, “Husbands” imagines a world in which marriage equality joins other cultural staples and serves as a natural backdrop for life, love, zany antics and sitcom happiness.
“Husbands” will premier on September 13, 2011. To learn more and catch a glimpse of the action on set, visit www.husbandstheseries.com.
