A special educational seminar will take place Tuesday, August 9 at the San Diego LGBT Community Center to address the effect that recent legislative policy developments will have on domestic partners, same-sex married partners and the LGBT community as a whole.
The event will take place from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and will include presentations by California State Controller John Chiang and California State Assemblymember Toni Atkins. Topics of discussion will include Federal and State income tax reporting rules for registered domestic partners and same-sex married couples, an introduction to estate planning and California property tax, as well as information on the Defense of Marriage Act.
All members of the San Diego LGBT community are encouraged to attend this free event, which will also include refreshments and presentations by the Franchise Tax Board, the State Board of Equalization, Equality California and California Western School of Law.
Guests are required to RSVP by 12:00 pm August 9 in order to secure their seat.
