Five people were shot and injured Saturday at the conclusion of Gay Pride festivities near the San Francisco Civic Center.
The Silicon Valley Mercury News reports that two of the five individuals sustained shots to the torso and are currently undergoing treatment for serious injuries. The other three victims received minor injuries and are likewise undergoing medical treatment.
San Francisco police reported that the shooting occurred shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday near the corner of Market Street and Sixth Street. Lt. Troy Dangerfield, a spokesman for the police department, explained that police are currently looking for a suspect described as a 6-foot-tall black man with dreadlocks, approximately 20 years old.
Thus far there is no evidence to definitively connect the shooting to the city’s Pride parade or related events.
