Shake it up at the San Diego Spirits Festival

If you are a connoisseur of the arts and the art of drinking, tasting and making cocktails, then the downtown bay front is the place to be this weekend for the San Diego Spirits Festival, a two-day celebration of spirits, cocktails and local culture.

This year’s third Annual Spirits Festival takes place at the Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier. It looks like it will be a weekend full of spirited activities, whether you are a cocktail geek or a martini novice.

In addition to enjoying cocktail competitions and bartender battles, the festival is offering two days of tastings, including the U.S. debut of some brands such as tea-infused liqueurs from Slovakia and a botanical absinthe.

Once you’ve had your fill of tequila, beer or rum samples, you can enjoy a pretty impressive roster of musicians (The Darrows, JC Villafan and Josh Damigo) and arts booths (the Distinction Gallery and the ubiquitous Alexander Salazar Fine Art Gallery) or just enjoy the sparkling water of San Diego bay.

Check out the festival’s Web site to find out more about events, performances and prices: sandiegospiritsfestival.com. The event is Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26.
