Tickets are now on sale for the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus’ (SDGMC) summer concert, GuyTunes.
The high-energy song and dance production features more than 100 hit songs made famous by award-winning boy bands over the last five decades. The concerts are July 30 at 8 p.m. and July 31 at 3 p.m., at the historic Balboa Theatre in downtown San Diego. Tickets for the Saturday evening performance are $30-$43; tickets for the Sunday matinee performance are $26-$38. A $5 discount is available for seniors, students, military and groups of 10 or more.
“We expect this concert to sellout quickly,” said Artistic Director Gary Holt. “The chorus will sing a wide variety of tunes that are sure to bring back fond memories for audience members. These are chart-topping songs from artists like Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, The Beatles and the Four Tops in the ’60s all the way through the decades of Doobie Brothers, Bee Gees and Backstreet Boys right up to today’s Jonas Brothers. This concert offers something for everyone.”
The concert is grouped into thematic medleys of songs such as Powerhouses, California Boys, Boys in Twos, Brit Boys, R&B and The New Breed, among others. “We created this concert with the goal of producing an outstanding, fun-filled event where everyone can enjoy his or her favorite pop music,” said Holt.
In addition to performances by the entire 140-member chorus, the concert also features many of the group’s outstanding soloists, as well as some songs featuring SDGMC’s ensemble, Ah! Tempo.
