In keeping with her many efforts on behalf of the LGBT community, pop megastar Lady Gaga has accepted an invitation to march in the EuroPride parade this coming weekend.
Gaga, who comes from an Italian-American family, will join this year’s European gay pride celebration in Rome in what promises to be an impressive finale to EuroPride 2011 – a parade within the city’s legendary Circus Maximus.
The OC Register reports that David Thorne, the U.S Ambassador to Italy, announced Lady Gaga’s decision to participate in the event upon accepting an invitation from organizers of the EuroPride celebration. He stressed Hillary Clinton’s assertion that “human rights are gay rights and gay rights are human rights,” and noted his pride in recognizing an Italian-American artist of Gaga’s caliber.
The parade will take place in Rome on June 11.
