GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) will honor The Honorable Eric H. Holder Jr., 82nd Attorney General of the United States, at its annual Spirit of Justice dinner this Friday, October 27, 2017 in Boston.
Holder, who is being honored for his instrumental role in advancing LGBTQ justice and his leadership on voting rights, criminal justice reform, and examining racial bias in policing, will speak at the event. GLAD’s Mary Bonauto, who argued the landmark marriage equality case Obergefell v. Hodges, will present the award.
Also speaking will be Dylan Kohere, an 18-year-old college student with dreams of entering a career in military via the ROTC program, who is fighting President Trump’s ban on transgender military service members as a plaintiff in GLAD’s lawsuit Doe v. Trump.
Over 1,000 corporate, philanthropic, and thought leaders as well as elected officials from the greater Boston area and beyond will be in attendance. The event’s sponsors include Partners Healthcare, IVF New England, Gilead, Macy’s, and Ropes & Gray.
