The Hillcrest Wind Ensemble (HWE) presents its fall concert A Change of Pace at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the beautiful First Unitarian Universalist Church at 4190 Front Street. in Hillcrest. Many of the pieces will have a Spanish influence; however, the concert will be cleverly interspersed with music of the great American composer and arranger, Sammy Nestico. Famous for his arrangements for the Count Basie Orchestra and for countless television shows and commercial jingles, he also arranged for the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Marine Corps bands. More known for his jazz arrangements, the ensemble will feature several of his concert band arrangements.
