Obamacare repeal fails

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Republican leaders today decided to shelve the vote on Obamacare repeal during a weekly caucus meeting on Capitol Hill, as they acknowledged that the latest proposal, from Sens. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), lacked the 50 votes it required to pass.

Monday, Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) had announced her intention to vote against the measure, joining her colleagues Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Rand Paul (R-Ky.) who had also stated they would vote against it.

Many are already vowing to make a whole new run at repeal, the Huffington Post reported, using the same special legislative authority, after they finish with their upcoming tax bill. “We’re coming back to this after taxes,” Graham said on Tuesday.
