Gay for Good announces upcoming partners; relaunches website

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Gay for Good, the leading LGBT+ volunteer organization, has announced new community partners in Los Angeles for remainder of 2017.

In a press release issued Friday the organization gave details on upcoming service projects:

  • SEPTEMBER: The service project in September (Saturday, 9/23) is with Operation Gratitude, which sends care packages to U.S. military stationed abroad. More information on Operation Gratitude at: www.operationgratitude.com
  • OCTOBER: This October marks Gay for Good’s 8th year working with the LA Parks & Recreation Department and Friends of Runyon Canyon to prepare the park for the rainy season, trail maintenance, park restoration and sand bagging erosion prone areas. www.friendsofrunyoncanyon.org/
  • NOVEMBER:  November 11, Gay for Good will be working with the Audubon Society to build trails and restore park areas at Debs Park, which is nestled in the hills of Northeast Los Angeles. More information can be found at: www.debspark.audubon.org/visit  And, on Thanksgiving Day, volunteers will join hundreds of other volunteers across Los Angeles with Gobble, Gobble Give to feed homeless a hearty Thanksgiving meal. www.gobblegobblegive.org/
  • DECEMBER: Every year, since Gay for Good’s founding in 2008, members have volunteered with the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank in DTLA. This is always the largest service project with over 150 volunteers from Gay for Good participating. The volunteers sort and assemble food kits for other regional shelters and have fun doing it. www.lafoodbank.org

In addition to these new service projects, this week, Gay for Good relaunched its website,  www.gayforgood.org, to improve communication with ten National Chapters. The new features enable the organization to meet its goal of doubling the number of chapters in the next year.

“When we show up it changes the narrative about LGBT+ community,” said Gay for Good in a statement. “This national organization of volunteers has logged thousands of hours with its 10 chapters throughout the USA and is steadily growing to become the leaders in making a social impact.”
