SAN DIEGO, California — San Diego native Ebony Burnett Mullins has been named the producer of the 2017 Nicky Awards. She is a past co-chair of San Diego LGBT Pride and is a professional event planner and is involved in many non-profit charity causes. This year’s Nicky Awards is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 3.
The 2017 Nicky Awards will benefit the LGBT community and the charity programs of the Imperial Court of San Diego.
“We are very proud to announce Ebony Burnett Mullins as the first woman producer of the Nicky Awards” states Big Mike Phillips, the 2017 President of the Nicky Awards Board of Governors. “She has generously offered to produce the Nicky Awards with new changes and a fresh start”.
Ms. Burnett Mullins is a past recipient of two Harvey Milk/Nicole M. Ramirez student scholarships which were founded in 1979.
The Nicky Awards, founded in 1975, were one of the first LGBT events held in a public hotel and have been attended by federal, state and local elected officials. Governor
Gray Davis stated “By showcasing excellence in the community, the Nicky Awards serve as proof that every person has something important to contribute, that each of us can make a difference. This celebration is a tribute to the men and woman of San Diego’s LGBT community who work hard to improve the quality of life for all.”
The Dec. 3 Nicky Awards event will include outstanding entertainment, hor d’oeuvres, VIP seating, a happy hour, and other surprises to be announced.
