SAN DIEGO, Calif. — UC San Diego Health is honoring LGBT Pride month and the goal of health care access and equality in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community with a flag-raising and lighting ceremony at UC San Diego Medical Center in Hillcrest, Wednesday, June 21, 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. Front Lawn, 200 West Arbor Drive.
The afternoon event will feature a variety of speakers, including California Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, UC San Diego Chancellor Pradeep Khosla and San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer. There will be a flag-raising ceremony and performances by the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus. At nightfall, the UC San Diego Medical Center will be illuminated in rainbow colors, and remain so throughout July as a visual reminder of UC San Diego Health’s unwavering support and engagement in the LGBT community.
UC San Diego Health was again named this year a “Leader in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality” by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation, the educational arm of the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer civil rights organization.
