SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Today, hundreds of San Diegans are expected to rally in support of Community Choice Energy (CCE) at San Diego City Hall, 11 a.m – 1 p.m. Their purpose is to urge Mayor Kevin Faulconer, council members, and regional leaders to take action to advance CCE initiatives.
Participants will also condemn President Trump’s decision to pull out of the Paris Agreement, which will set back global climate leadership and condemn Americans to increasingly devastating climate impacts, poorer health outcomes, and loss of jobs and prosperity – which affect the poor, communities of color, and Indigenous people first and worst.
Community Choice Energy is supported by community members, environmental organizations, and public officials because it is the only way to ensure that municipalities can reach the goal of 100% clean energy while increasing competition and choice, and bolstering the local green energy economy.
Organizers say that San Diego and California have the opportunity to lead the transition to 100% clean energy and they will keep fighting for clean energy on a local and national level. A Community Choice Energy feasibility study for the City of San Diego is expected to be published this summer.
