SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Front Runners & Walkers San Diego have announced that their annual Pride 5k Run and Walk will be held Saturday, July 15 with a start time of 9:30 a.m. This annual 5k race and walk is held along the parade route through Hillcrest and Balboa Park and is a USA Track & Field sanctioned and certified course.
In 2016, a record 925 participants were cheered by the crowds that lined the streets. $12,000 in proceeds and sponsorship from last year’s race benefited the San Diego Center’s Youth Housing Project and San Diego Pride Community Grants. The Youth Housing Project is a vital safety net giving LGBTQ teens a safe place to live and an opportunity to get an education and skills needed to lead productive lives.
Front Runners & Walkers San Diego, established in 1981, is a social and sporting club providing running and walking opportunities for all. The club meets three times a week in Balboa Park.
