SDSU to host Lavender Graduation Ceremony celebrating LGBTQ students

Tuesday, May 2, San Diego State University will celebrate the diversity of its graduates during the 8th annual Lavender Graduation. The ceremony is open to all graduating students who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or allies.

Lavender Graduation not only celebrates the achievements of undergraduate and graduate students who are part of the LGBTQ community, but also recognizes faculty, staff and administrators who have enhanced the campus climate for these students.

Students who participate in the Lavender Graduation event are recognized with a certificate and rainbow cord to wear with their academic regalia during commencement. They also receive an invitation to join SDSU’s LGBT Alumni Chapter.

The graduation ceremony will take place Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center.
