SAN DIEGO — The San Diego LGBT Community Center has announced that Araceli (Cheli) Mohamed has returned to The Center as Director of Volunteer Services and Community Leadership Development.
From 1995-2000, Mohamed served in various administrative and programmatic roles at The Center. Most recently, she was the chief operations officer of the United States Police and Fire Championships.
Mohamed is currently focused on recruiting and training volunteers and ambassadors for the 11th annual Dining Out For Life® San Diego, set for Thursday, April 27. On that day, participating local restaurants and bars donate 25 percent or more of their food and liquor sales to support HIV services and prevention programs at The Center.
Volunteers and ambassadors are needed to help in advance and on the day of the event. All are welcome to participate.
“Volunteers are an essential ingredient in the success of Dining Out For Life,” Mohamed said. “Their enthusiasm and compassion help us raise much-needed funds for HIV services and prevention efforts. They also make a difference by bringing the issue of HIV to the forefront and helping end the stigma associated with the disease.”
The schedule and locations for upcoming Dining Out For Life volunteer and ambassador orientations/trainings are as follows:
• Thursday, March 23 — 5:30pm — The Center, 3909 Centre St.
