Frankie Quinones takes the stage along with live performances by his characters “Creeper”(CholoFit) and “Juanita Carmelita”(The Funny Drop). Special guests include Chris Estrada and Torio Von Grol. Frankie Quinones brings a performance compared to a one-man variety show. Gales of Color
The San Diego Watercolor Society presents Gales of Color, an art exhibition juried by award-winning artist, John Swink. The exhibit runs from February 26 – April 1, 2017 at their gallery in Liberty Station. The Opening Reception is Friday, March 3 from 5 – 8 p.m., with 95-100 ready-to-hang original paintings for sale plus wine, food and the fellowship of other art enthusiasts.

Jennifer Steinkamp: Madame Curie
Jennifer Steinkamp’s immersive video installation, Madame Curie, was commissioned by MCASD in 2011 for the downtown location’s Farrell Gallery. The work was inspired by Steinkamp’s research into atomic energy, atomic explosions, and the effects of these forces on nature. Marie Curie was the recipient of two Nobel Prizes for creating the theory of radioactivity, and discovering radium and polonium.

Alexia Markarian: Desire Is Never Enough
Alexia Markarian has been making artwork – challenging and often confrontational artwork – in a very wide range of media (paintings, sculpture, jewelry, mixed media) for more than 30 years. A restless experimenter and creator, she is known for using common materials in unexpected ways throughout her sculptural and design work, not to mention for presenting work that is psychologically charged.
