Seventh grade students got a brief glimpse of gay male pornography Feb. 9 when their Chula Vista middle school teacher accidently showed the images on his iPad when he wanted to use the device for an academic lesson.
The teacher was asked to leave the classroom by administrators after some students told them they viewed inappropriate images in class at the Rancho del Rey Middle School, said Sweetwater Union High School District spokesman Manny Rubio.
“Currently there’s a substitute (teacher) in the classroom,” said Rubio on Monday. “We’re still in the investigative phase.”
“There were no arrests, no charges,” added Rubio.
The images briefly viewed were of two adult males having sex. The teacher turned off the iPad once he noticed what was shown.
There is a law against showing X-rated materials to minors, but this incident appears to be accidental and the teacher quickly turned it off.
Several students gave interviews to local television newscasts about the incident.
