HuffPost Originals to launch new video series, ‘The Zainab Salbi Project’ (VIDEO)

The Huffington Post Friday released the trailer for “The Zainab Salbi Project,” a HuffPost Originals series covering global issues from a woman’s perspective. The six-part series will follow Zainab Salbi, an Iraqi-American women’s rights activist, humanitarian, author, social entrepreneur, and media commentator, as she travels the world shedding light on those issues through personal stories of people who are struggling, surviving and thriving in conflict regions.

In a blog posted to the site Friday, Zainab wrote, “It is my hope that this series will start the process of shattering stereotypes, thereby building new bridges of understanding.” Throughout the series Zainab will travel to Minnesota, Thailand, India, Iraq, France and Mexico to ask the uncomfortable questions.

The series is especially timely post-US election, as Zainab explores issues of Islamophobia in the US, immigration, sexism, homophobia, the threat of ISIS, and more. The episode on France, where Zainab meets with young people to find out why so many are being seduced into joining the Islamic State, will air around the 1-year anniversary of the Paris attacks.

She currently serves as Editor-at-Large at Women in the World Media in collaboration with The New York Times. In 2010, President Clinton nominated Salbi as one of the 21st century heroes as featured by Harper’s Bazaar. She has been named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and is a member of Clinton Global Initiative. She has been identified as one of the most influential women in the world in the last several years by Newsweek, The Guardian, Fortune Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar, Fast Company and People Magazine.
