The California Democratic Party has released television and radio ads featuring Michelle Obama encouraging San Diego voters to turn out for local Democrats running for Congress.
This announcement comes at a time when Col. Doug Applegate, the Democratic candidate for the 49th Congressional District, is making great strides against Republican incumbent Darrell Issa. Issa’s support of Donald Trump — and waning Republican support nationally — has led pollsters to label the race a “tossup.”

In the ad the first lady says:
“San Diego, everything we’ve accomplished over the past eight years is at stake in this election.
That’s why we need to elect Democrats who share our values.
Our votes on Tuesday will determine the path of San Diego County and our country not just for the next four years, but for generations to come.
So please, vote for Democrats for Congress this Tuesday, November 8.”
