The Cuban born, San Diego-based band Zaraguey will perform “La Rata Blanca,” an original song protesting the racist messages of Donald Trump.
The song’s music video was produced by Queen Bee’s Arts and Cultural Center, a North Park small business and Main Street Alliance of San Diego member business. The video features San Diego Latino artists bringing Donald Trump’s derogatory remarks about the Latino community to light.
Admission to the live performance of “La Rata Blanca” is $10 or $8 for students.
“Queen Bee’s produced this music video to give the voice of the San Diego Latino community a megaphone. We pointed it at Donald Trump and spoke to Latinos all over America,” says Alma Rodriguez, owner of Queen Bee’s Arts and Cultural Center.
The music video, translated to English as “The White Rat,” was re-released last week after Trump’s racist rhetoric in the last presidential debate, including, “…we have some bad hombres here and we’re going to get them out.”
“We ‘bad hombres’ of San Diego are speaking loud and clear,” says Rodriguez. “We will not stand silent amidst hatred.”
