SAN DIEGO – California Attorney General Kamala Harris, the state’s top law enforcement officer, today endorsed Mara Elliott as the most qualified and capable candidate to protect San Diego as the next City Attorney.
Democrat Kamala Harris, a two-term attorney general who was also the two-term district attorney of San Francisco, said Mara Elliott has a proven record of cracking down on corporate polluters and rooting out waste and fraud in government.
“San Diego deserves a city attorney who is smart on crime,” Harris said. “I trust Mara Elliott to build on her strong record as a chief deputy city attorney to protect seniors and kids, hold polluters accountable and increase transparency and accountability in government.”
Harris, who is in a race to succeed Barbara Boxer in the U.S Senate, joins a long list of Democrats and law enforcement leaders who trust Mara Elliott to look after the interests of taxpayers and families.
“I am proud to have the endorsement of our Attorney General,” Mara Eliott said. “Kamala Harris is a fearless leader with a proven record fighting crime, protecting kids and holding white-collar criminals accountable. I look forward to working with her when she is a U. S. senator to advance the interests of San Diego in Washington.”
Mara Elliott’s endorsers include U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer, Planned Parenthood, the San Diego Democratic Party as well as the San Diego City Firefighters, the Deputy City Attorneys Association, and former City Attorney Casey Gwinn.
