Trump delays immigration speech

Trump said in an interview Monday morning that he wants to “come up with a really fair, but firm” immigration policy and then followed this up with a denial in an interview with Fox News that same day that he was “flip-flopping” on the issue of illegal immigration.

The Latino Victory Fund were not impressed with Trump’s statements saying the candidate has a “long, winding history” of proposing inhumane deportation practices, and has used various debunked and baseless myths about Latinos and immigrants rather than propose substantive policy.

“It’s no surprise that Trump has postponed his immigration speech. He’s shown time and time again how little he values and respects the lives of immigrants and Latinos across the country,” said César Blanco, Latino Victory interim director. “Whether it’s hiring a nativist Breitbart executive to advise him, avoiding and attacking Hispanic media, ignoring invitations from major Hispanic advocacy organizations, or just plain calling us rapists and murderers, the GOP’s presidential candidate has done a remarkable job of finding endless ways to offend our community. We won’t be fooled by Trump’s thinly veiled and convenient Hispandering on display this past weekend. Surely, Trump is just buying himself some time, cooking up some new ways to try and deceive our community into thinking that he’s changing his tone, and policies, when we all know that he’s nothing but a racist and a bigot who is only interested in attacking and hurting us.”
