SAN DIEGO – This past week, 55 members of the San Diego Women’s Chorus participated in the 2016 GALA (Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses) Festival in Denver, Colorado, performing five times in just four days, including a 30-minute set of their own to a packed audience in the Ellie Caukins Opera House and at the Festival Opening Concerts, which were live-streamed internationally. As SDWC reflects on a spectacular GALA Festival and returns home from the event, the Chorus barely takes a breath before jumping right into Pride with “Guided by the Heart” Thursday July 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the University Christian Church in Hillcrest. “Guided By The Heart” explores and celebrates the path each of us takes to live authentically. Sometimes we move step by step, deliberately measuring each decisive moment; sometimes we leap with wild abandon into the unknown…but we always strive to bravely go where our hearts lead us.
“Guided by the Heart!” is the chance for the San Diego community to kick-off Pride Week by supporting the acclaimed LGBTQA San Diego Women’s Chorus. Attendees will have the chance to see SDWC reprise their full GALA concert set and enjoy additional songs performed by SDWC during the GALA Festival events. Audience members will also be entertained by individual SDWC singers performing solos, duets and small ensembles. Featuring some SDWC fan favorites from the last few years, plus music by One Republic, REM, Shawn Colvin, John Legend, Rachel Platten, Janis Ian, and Jason Robert Brown, “Guided by the Heart” is the perfect way to start your Pride weekend!
Tickets for “Guided by the Heart” are only $10 in advance and $15 at the door and may be purchased at www.sdwc.org.. “Guided by the Heart” will be presented on Thursday, July 14 at 7:30pm at the University Christian Church, 3900 Cleveland Avenue (across from the Hillcrest DMV).
