NBCNews.com today launched “NBC OUT,” a new vertical dedicated to coverage about and of interest to the LGBTQ community.
The vertical is live at http://NBCOUT.com — original content today ranges from a profile piece about an intersex millennial to an article about cisgender, black gay men in history, and a multimedia report about a Thai immigrant who started a transgender modeling agency.
MSNBC SVP Yvette Miley, who leads diversity issues for both MSNBC and NBC News, wrote in a memo released today, “NBC News and MSNBC have an established reputation for award-winning coverage of issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity. This new digital home will build upon that foundation by providing a single online destination for original journalism and fresh storytelling as well as the best news and analysis powered by the global resources of NBC News.”
Brooke Sopelsa, a former producer at HuffPost Live has been named managing editor of NBC OUT.
