RuPaul’s annual convention celebrating “the art of drag, queer culture and self-expression for all” kicks off with RuPaul’s Dragcon Opening Night Spectacular a special opening night extravaganza presented by World of Wonder and Voss Events, taking place Friday, May 6 at the Belasco Hotel in Los Angeles (1050 S. Hill Street, Los Angeles, CA 90015). Many of the world’s top drag queens have been tapped to perform including Alyssa Edwards, Gia Gunn, Jessica Wild, Jujubee, Katya, Kennedy Davenport, Lady Bunny, Laganja Estranja, Latrice Royale, Raven, and Trixie Mattel. Doors open at 8PM; show begins at 9 p.m.“We’re opening the world’s largest drag event in grand style,” proclaims Brandon Voss. Known for his high concept parties at some of New York’s most exclusive venues, such as The Palace Hotel, W Hotels, Marquee, and the Dream Downtown, and hot ticket events featuring a-list stars including Lady Gaga, Cher, Caitlyn Jenner, and others, Brandon Voss is partnering with World of Wonder on the first-ever RuPaul’s Dragcon Opening Night Spectacular “Until now, there have been no actual performances at DragCon. The opening night party is the first to add a performance component to the fun-filled weekend,” he says.
RuPaul’s DragCon provides a platform for fans to meet and interact with world-renowned drag celebrities in a friendly and accessible environment.
Nearly 14, 000 people attended last year’s convention. Tens of thousands are expected to attend the next glitter-filled weekend. Many coming for the opportunity to mix, mingle and kiki with queens from all eight seasons of “RuPaul’s Drag Race”.
General admission tickets for RuPaul’s Dragcon Opening Night Spectacular are $40. Reserved mezzanine seating tickets are also available for $65.00.
