
SAN DIEGO – Anthony Bernal, a candidate in the hotly contested race for the San Diego City Council seat representing the Third District, announced today the endorsement of the San Diego County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, one of the region’s largest business associations and representative of Hispanic-owned businesses.
“We are excited to support Anthony Bernal for San Diego City Council,” said San Diego County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Chairman Albert Clark-Castaneda, “As the business liaison for Councilmember Todd Gloria, Anthony has demonstrated his ability and passion for helping the hard working entrepreneurs of our community. As the son of a small business owner himself, we have the utmost confidence that Anthony will bring to the City Council a unique understanding of the needs of the Hispanic business community.”
Founded in 1989, the San Diego County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Is one of the leading Hispanic organizations in the County made up of over 500 active members including small business owners, corporations, and government leaders.
“It is a great honor to have the support of the Hispanic business community,” said Bernal, “When I was young, my father worked as a grocery store clerk and, through his hard work, he eventually came to own a neighborhood store himself. He exhibited the same hard working spirit that the members of the Hispanic Chamber exhibit everyday, and I couldn’t be more proud to have their endorsement.”
Bernal serves as Councilmember Todd Gloria’s director of Business and Community Projects, supervising the Downtown, East Village, and Little Italy neighborhoods in addition to working directly with the planning groups and residents associations in the communities throughout the Third District.
