NEW YORK, NY – You don’t need to be gay to play, but it sure does help! “Gay for Play Game Show Starring RuPaul,” the all-new, over-the-top game show hosted by RuPaul premieres Monday, April 11 at 10PM ET/PT on Logo. Shot in front of a live studio audience, contestants’ entertainment IQs are put to the test when host RuPaul quizzes them on the hottest pop culture moments. As they answer hysterical trivia questions, contestants have to decide whether to trust their own instincts or to turn to the “Gay for Play” celebrity panel for help. Then as the competition heats up, contestants pair up with one celebrity panelist and have 69 seconds to answer as many trivia questions as possible for a chance to win big cash and prizes.
“I’ve never laughed as hard as I did making Gay For Play. It’s funnier than the Republican debates – with more useful take away,” said host and EP RuPaul Charles. “I wanted to capture the gay voices from my TV youth, like Paul Lynde and Charles Nelson Reilly, to create a new game show that everyone could enjoy. ‘Let’s Make America Gay Again!'”
The “Gay for Play” panel of six celebrities features Michelle Visage, Todrick Hall, Carson Kressley, and Ross Mathews as regular panelists, along with a rotating panel of former “RuPaul’s Drag Race” contestants, social influencers, and celebrities. Guest panelists throughout the season include model Amber Rose, Brandi Glanville (“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”), Cheyenne Jackson (“American Horror Story”), Daniel Franzese (“Looking,” “Mean Girls”), Frankie Grande (“Big Brother”), comedian Heather McDonald, Jeannie Mai (“The Real”), Kristen Johnston (“The Exes”), Mindy Cohn (“Facts of Life”), plus social talent Austin & Aaron Rhodes (“Scream Queens”), GloZell Green, Joey Graceffa, Kingsley, Kyle Krieger, and Connor Franta.
Special episodes also feature celebrity contestants squaring off. Rebecca Romijn will battle husband Jerry O’Connell to fight for “Gay for Play” bragging rights. Former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” cast member Taylor Armstrong and “Real Housewives of O.C.” cast member Gretchen Rossi will challenge each other, as well as reunited “227” stars Marla Gibbs and Jackée Harry.
The premiere of “Gay for Play Game Show Starring RuPaul” follows an all-new episode of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” which starts its new season and celebrates the mega-hit series’ 100th episode on Monday, March 7 with a special queen-sized 90 minute episode.
“Gay for Play Game Show Starring RuPaul” is produced by World of Wonder Productions with Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato, Tom Campbell, Kate Fisher and RuPaul Charles serving as Executive Producers. Chris McCarthy, Pamela Post and Tim Palazzola are Executive Producers for Logo.
