Ellen DeGeneres will be honored as Favorite Humanitarian at the People’s Choice Awards Wednesday, Jan. 6.

“I am so honored to be receiving the People’s Choice Humanitarian Award,” said DeGeneres in a statement. “I think it  sums me up perfectly as I am both a human and an itarian.”

DeGeneres, a 15-time People’s Choice Awards winner, is being recognized as this year’s honoree because of her tireless efforts in helping communities in need and for raising awareness of organizations and charities that are making a difference in people’s lives.

The talk show host has selected St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as the beneficiary of the annual donation presented by Walgreens. Additionally, Walgreens will make a $1 donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for every CoverGirl, Pantene, Crest and Oral-B 3DWhite product sold at Walgreens, Walgreens.com, and Duane Reade between January 6 and January 9.

Past recipients of the “Favorite Humanitarian” honor include Ben Affleck in 2015, for his work with the Eastern Congo Initiative; Jennifer Hudson in 2014, for her involvement with the Julian D. King Foundation; and Sandra Bullock in 2013, for her work with Warren Easton High School in New Orleans.

  1. What a joke the same year Ellen sold out her ethics and morals to make a couple bucks by selling leather shoes after knowing exactly that she will be responsible for killing who knows how many cows to make her stupid shoes, all while claiming to be a so called ethical vegan! What a joke!
