TORONTO, Ontario – In the year of one of the most historically significant US decisions in LGBT history, federal marriage equality, lesbians are free to get hitched. But what about all the single ladies? Through the lens of several smart, diverse lesbians, the official release of the award-nominated documentary, Lesbian Diaries, offers an honest, fresh look at dating as a single lesbian.

The compelling and touching stories of lesbians navigating the singles scene portray an honest look at the realities of dating amidst an oversexualized, glamorized media portrayal of lesbian culture. Over the past decade, as equality has come to the forefront of national consciousness, the realities of the decline in the lesbian scene are noted through the loss of lesbian bars, and a dismal consistent lesbian platform for meeting other women.  Through two lenses: a psychological deconstruction and real, boots on the ground daters, Lesbian Diaries presents an intimate look into the lives of women who explore dating as a lesbian. By countering misconceptions about women who date women, Lesbian Diaries utilizes the experiences of real women to discuss racism in dating, personality disorders, addiction, cheating, experimenters, dating as an older woman, and game players.

The impressive roster of interviewees include Ruth Schwartz, PhD, and Michelle Murrain, PhD, teachers, authors of Conscious Lesbian Dating and Love, and founders of Conscious Girlfriend; Robyn Exton, founder of HER, the largest app for queer women; Katharine Angelina Love, prominent columnist for Huffington Post USA; Jess Branas, LesB Real radio host, dating coach, and author of Seeking Her, Knowing You; Steph Smith, popular DJ and tattoo artist in the UK; Jolene Linsangan, founder of U-Haul SF and lesbian party planner in the Bay area; Natash and major social media influencer and media blogger of effort-lez.com and Kim Baker, online columnist for Curve magazine and author of the forthcoming book Girls’ Guide to Dating: between the breakup and the next U-Haul. This collection of experts will join producer Lex Hefner,

up-coming documentary filmmaker of gritty films that reflect the issues and problems in society that are often ignored in mainstream media.

What is it like to date as a lesbian today? How does it differ from the media portrayal of single lesbians? Is there hope for developing a more cohesive community? Is there a way to date in a healthier way? These questions and more are explored in the premiere release of Lesbian Diaries.
