Health Assessment and Research for Communities (HARC), a nonprofit research and evaluation organization, has partnered with the San Diego Human Dignity Foundation and the Alliance Healthcare Foundation to develop a survey about the healthcare experiences of LGBT adults age 50 and older in San Diego County.

The objective of the survey is to help HARC identify gaps in services for LGBT seniors in the County and help direct funding toward those needs.
The survey is open to anyone who is 50 or older, lives in San Diego County and identifies as LGBT and will be available through Jan. 31 2016.
The survey will include topics about LGBT seniors’ health needs, experiences with various healthcare providers, and the quality of care received in healthcare settings. There will also be some demographic questions including age, gender and sexual orientation.
HARC will analyze the results and create a report that summarizes what San Diego County LGBT seniors have experienced regarding healthcare, and where the gaps are. Several funders, including the San Diego Human Dignity Foundation plan to use this information to determine what is most needed and direct funds to those areas of greatest need.
Organizations supporting the distribution of the survey include The LGBT Community Center, San Diego Pride, North Park Recreation and the Carlsbad Senior Center. The survey is also available on paper at those locations.
