The acclaimed San Diego Women’s Chorus (SDWC) invites you to join them at their annual Winter Concert, “Love Is”, at the beautiful new state-of-the-art theater at the Creative, Performing and Media Arts Middle School in Clairemont (5050 Conrad Avenue, 92117) Sunday, Dec. 6 at 4 p.m. and Friday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m.

Love Is” celebrates all types of love – love for family, friends, sweethearts, community – and rejoices in the love of life itself. The 80+ women of SDWC are thrilled to present this family-friendly, heartfelt, heartwarming program to the community. Artistic Director Kathleen Hansen selected songs that echo the ways love manifests in our world. “Love is many things. It shows up in complex, multi-faceted ways but yet, it simply is. It is a universal force that all of humanity experiences in one way or another.

SDWC Love isOne highlight of the concert program will certainly be SDWC’s performance of award-winning singer/songwriter Randi Driscoll’s hopeful anthem “Love Is Love”. “I contemplated where we stood as a country ten years after Matthew Shepard’s death,” said Driscoll, “but more importantly, where I envisioned we, as a society could grow and evolve to. It is my hope for a better tomorrow.”

“With this summer’s SCOTUS decision making ‘love is love’ the law of the land, we really wanted to incorporate that optimism and hope into this winter’s concert. To us, that’s what the holiday season is about and what we want to gift our audiences as they head into the new year,” said SDWC Board President Heather Robert.

Part of SDWC’s mission is to encourage social action and “Love Is” will touch upon themes of marriage equality and the powerful force of women using love to overcome violence and hatred. Audiences will rock out contemporary classic hits from OneRepublic and Queen, be swept away by Eric Whitacre’s gorgeous “Seal Lullaby”, and delight in world music selections, classical choral pieces, and a touch of traditional holiday spirit.

Tickets for “Love Is” are on sale now and can be purchased at http://sdwc.ticketleap.com/loveis. Discounted tickets are available for youth, students, seniors, military, and disabled patrons. Both performances will be ASL-interpreted for deaf and hard of hearing audience members. CPMA Theatre is centrally located at 5050 Conrad Avenue, off Clairemont Mesa Boulevard and the 805. Free parking is available at the CPMA lot and on the neighboring streets.

Rehearsals for SDWC’s spring concert, “Uprising: Songs of Change”, begin in January. If you would like to join as a singer, please contact membership@sdwc.org for information about New Member Orientation, scheduled for Jan. 10.
