Today sees the release of Adele’s long awaited new album 25.
The album is all but certain to be a gigantic hit, but it will not be available for streaming on services like Spotify and Apple Music, reports the New York Times.
With less than 24 hours before the release of the album today, the major digital music services were informed that 25 would not be available for streaming, according to three people with direct knowledge of the plans. A spokesman for Adele declined to comment.
A representative from Spotify confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the album would not be streaming on their service.
“We love and respect Adele, as do her 24 million fans on Spotify,” the Spotify spokesperson said. “We hope that she will give those fans the opportunity to enjoy ’25’ on Spotify alongside ’19’ and ’21’ very soon.”
I guess we’ll just have to go out and buy the album!
