SAN DIEGO – It’s not quite Napa … yet … but East San Diego County has established a vibrant and growing wine industry. There are more than 50 wineries in San Diego County, with more than 40 east of Highway 15. Many of those local east county vintners will have their products highlighted at the inaugural Toast to East County, to be held Sunday, November 8 at Cottonwood Golf Club in El Cajon.
“San Diego County, especially the East County region, has seen significant growth in the number of local wineries,” said Eric Lund, General Manager of the San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce. “The seeds have been planted, the industry is now well-established and growing, thanks to eased permitting by the County of San Diego and we want to help share this local success story with the public at this event, which we plan to host annually.” Also included in the program will be the Maness Vineyards “Trail Blazer Awards” recognizing three outstanding visionaries in the vintner industry.
The public will have a chance to sample other locally-produced foods including olives and honey, local restaurants as well as local craft beer, all at one convenient location. The Toast to East County will be held from Sunday, November 8 from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Cottonwood Golf Club on Willow Glen Drive in El Cajon. Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door.
