A trial date of Dec. 9 has been set for Kathryn Knott for her alleged role in last year’s attack on a gay couple in Philadelphia.
Knott is charged with two counts each of aggravated and simple assault, as well as conspiracy and reckless endangerment in connection with the Sept. 11, 2014, attack on Zachary Hesse and Andrew Haught in Center City, reports Philadelphia Gay News.
Earlier this month, Knott’s co-defendants, Kevin Harrigan and Philip Williams, accepted plea deals offered by the District Attorney’s office that include probation, but no jail time. The prosecutor in the case said Knott was offered a similar deal, but she rejected it, opting instead to take her case to trial.
Hess and Haught were walking in downtown Philadelphia in September 2014 when they were attacked. The three suspects held down the two men and beat them while making disparaging comments about their sexual orientation and stealing one victim’s bag. Both victims were hospitalized, one beaten so badly he had his jaw wired shut and required facial surgery.
Knott is the daughter of Chalfont Borough Police Chief Karl Knott.
