Get More: Beautiful As I Want To Be // Logo TV
NEW YORK – Logo today announced the premiere of Beautiful As I Want To Be, a digital-exclusive video series spotlighting transgender youth, Wednesday, Oct. 28, on LogoTV.com and Logo’s YouTube. Each of the 4 episodes will be introduced by Geena Rocero, a transgender supermodel and founder of Gender Proud, who also serves as an Executive Producer on the series. The production featured a crew of almost all transgender entertainment professionals.
Beautiful As I Want To Be is a digital-exclusive video series and photo shoot partnering 4 trans young people with successful trans leaders to explore how they define beauty and identity. In each episode, a trans young person shares their backstory, their identity journey, and their dreams for the future. Their mentor/coach readies them for a photo shoot, and provides not only creative direction, but life advice. Through hair, make-up and wardrobe, the young person will be transformed into their ultimate expression of authentic beauty.
Executive Producer Geena Rocero will appear in each episode. She is regularly featured on E!’s I Am Cait and has walked the runway in high-profile fashion shows for designers including Carmen Marc Valvo. In August, she became the first trans woman in a Covergirl campaign and has also been featured in Candy magazine as well as the Marriott ‘Love Travels’ campaign. Rocero has been profiled and spoken out for transgender equality in Vanity Fair, Glamour, CNN, and MSNBC, among others. A video of her TED Talk, during which she first shared that she is transgender, has been viewed more than 2.7 million times. Rocero is the founder of Gender Proud, an advocacy organization that aims to tell a more empowered story about the transgender experience.
“I am excited to share with trans youth the ways that I’ve used modeling and art to creatively express myself and to realize my dreams,” said Rocero. “This project is to affirm our youth’s potential, their beauty, and the possibilities when we celebrate and allow them to be their most authentic selves.”
Logo, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, has a history of transgender media images including the series TransGeneration and the reality show Transamerican Love Story, which received the GLAAD Media Award in 2009. Earlier this year, Laverne Cox Presents: The T Word, Logo’s documentary about transgender youth, received the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Class Special.
Beautiful As I Want To Be is directed by Raul Gasteazoro and executive produced by Allie Hoffman and Geena Rocero. Jonathan Mallow and Sarah DeFilippis serve as Executive Producers for Logo.
