SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The San Diego County Hotel-Motel Association (HMA) joined New American Workforce and 20 other businesses from across the country for a meeting at the White House on immigrant integration efforts.
The meeting on Thursday, July 23 brought together businesses who provide citizenship services to their employees with the White House, the Department of Labor and the Department of Education to discuss the importance of equipping immigrants with the opportunities, skills and training they need to succeed.
“Several of the businesses that have partnered with New American Workforce were able to speak at the White House about the tremendous work they are doing to assist and support their employees who are pursuing U.S. citizenship,” said Jennie Murray, Director of Integration Programs at the National Immigration Forum. “They are truly leading the way in their respective industries in demonstrating that their companies thrive when their employees have the opportunities, skills and status to reach their fullest potential.”
The San Diego County Hotel-Motel Association boasts 90 member properties, employing over 7,000 people. HMA Board President Mike Staples and Executive Director Namara Mercer were among those at the White House discussing the topic of immigrant integration.
“The San Diego County Hotel-Motel Association is proud to partner with the New American Workforce on helping our associates towards a path to citizenship,” said Staples. “It was very beneficial to hear how other companies and organizations are integrating their workforce. This partnership creates an amazing benefit for our hotel employees.”
