I suppose if you’re going to have a show about nothing in particular, it helps if you’re handsome, toned and shirtless. Because, really, when has a product, or even a concept, not been not sold by someone toned, handsome and shirtless? Especially on YouTube?
But there you have it. Two, former Hillcrestians, now living in the place all handsome, toned and shirtless people go to be discovered: West Hollywood. These two, now known simply as the ‘Theme Team’s Marcus and Jason, are trying to spice up the sketch comedy circuit on YouTube and want what every viral success story needs: people of good will spreading the word.
But, if these promotional videos Marcus and Jason have introduced themselves in seem like another snarky familiar couple pointing out the absurd in gay culture, it’s because they are. Flashback to 2008. Jeffrey Self, from Atlanta, and Cole Escola, from NYC, produced a series of very funny skits out of, we presume, their crowded New York City apartment. For a short time, they would do sends ups of everything from California’s vote on same-sex marriage, to a tribute to Bernadette Peters.
Of course, there is always room for funny. Let’s hope Marcus and Jason continue to find it.
