FRESNO, Calif. — A 66-year-old transgender woman was murdered in Fresno, Calif. Thursday night in what appears to be a brutal premeditated attack.
KMPH reports that surveillance video shows Kenton Haggard of Fresno walking down Blackstone near Cornell in central Fresno. An SUV with several people inside makes a turn and then the driver calls over to the person. After a few minutes of talking the transgender woman leans down in the window and then someone stabs her directly in the neck with a knife.
The SUV then takes off.
Haggard tries to flag down a passing car, but when it doesn’t stop she stumbles down the street and falls to the ground.
The video shows several people came over to Haggard but none appeared to help her. The people then left the scene.
Karen Adell Scot, the founder of Transcare.org, told KMPH, “It was premeditated, and it was thought out. They had the knife ready. They baited the person to the vehicle and they followed through with tremendous precision on the strike.”
Haggard becomes the 11th transgender person murdered in the US since the beginning of the year. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to call the Fresno Police Department at 559-621-2449.
